Consultancy
Although I have retired from running an insured practice I still offer occasional consultancy sessions for students, practitioners or their patients but it no longer feels ethically appropriate for me to prescribe remedies. The Homeopathic Support Service, which I have run since 2001, offers relaxed, confidential and very flexible support with case work, professional and/or personal problems.
The spirit of my work is to be an elder who listens carefully and mediates if appropriate.
How it works:
- You phone or email me with anything you would like to discuss.
- It can be a one-off question which can be dealt with straight away or need an ongoing period of help. It may take as little time as a minute by phone or as much as a day if we meet.
- For phone support we note the time the discussion starts and agree the fee payable at the end. I only charge for the actual working time, not for general chat that may precede or follow it.
- You may prefer to come here to my peaceful estuary home or to meet me at your clinic, home or other mutually convenient place.
- You may wish to send me cases or written material by post or email in advance of the phone discussion or we can work entirely by email - but please check first to make sure I will not be away.
- On very rare occasions, and despite your best efforts, you may have a problem with a patient which you cannot resolve. If this happens we can arrange that all three of us meet together or that they see me alone.
I realise that this is a very difficult and sensitive situation for everyone concerned. The ‘consultation’ would be strictly confidential and any notes I take would be kept in locked storage for the following 8 years (in accordance with standard Code of Ethics procedures). Depending on the outcome, and if I have seen your patient on my own I might ask them if I can confer with or share information with you. If they refuse their wishes would be respected.
I offer a single, or a maximum of three, one-hour consultations during which I can determine whether a new homeopathic approach can be successful or whether it would be better to have help from a different therapeutic discipline altogether. For instance, when I lose faith in remedies - and yes, it does happen very occasionally - I see a colleague who can give me kinesiology, acupuncture, herbal treatment or whatever suits best at the time. I can usually suggest a good alternative to homeopathy if that seems the most appropriate short-term option.
Availability:
- Usually 09.00-18.00, Monday to Friday. However as I have now retired from practice and travel away from home a lot I am not always available at these times.
Cost:
- £1.00 per minute (£60 per hour)
- For shorter phone calls you may prefer to accumulate a full half-hour or hour’s worth of support before sending payment.
